Global Neighborhood welcomes new Executive Director
Global Neighborhood is pleased to announce the appointment of Deb Salls as its Executive Director. Deb brings nearly 20 years of prior Executive Director experience, a proven track record of leading teams through organizational growth, and building and strengthening diversified fundraising streams.
Deb is best known in the Pacific Northwest for her decade-long tenure as Executive Director of Bike Works, a South Seattle social enterprise nonprofit that helps young people and people of all ages use the bicycle as a vehicle for change. Bike Works helps build transformational skills through bike ownership, bike ridership, and bike repair training opportunities. Under her leadership, Bike Works expanded its reach and built a strong reputation in the field. Deb most recently served as the Executive Director of several BIPOC-serving nonprofits in Minnesota.
Deb’s career has consistently centered around supporting underserved communities, including first-generation Americans and low-income populations. She is inspired by Global Neighborhood’s mission and the strong foundation built over years of refugee-centered work, and Global Neighborhood is equally inspired by the heart, vision, and alignment she brings to this next chapter at Global Neighborhood.

Since 2008, Global Neighborhood has served as a community anchor and innovative job readiness program for refugees as they build new lives in the Inland Northwest. Global Neighborhood Thrift & Vintage, a 45,000-square-foot store and social enterprise that opened in 2011, is the organization’s engine and living laboratory, providing sustainable revenue, employment, and onsite job training to the refugee community in Spokane, Washington.
